Umbilical Hernia Repair

Keyhole and open belly-button hernia surgery with quick recovery in Hampshire

An umbilical hernia appears around the belly button and may cause a bulge, discomfort or pressure, especially during lifting or exercise. These hernias often enlarge over time and may eventually require repair.

I provide specialist umbilical hernia surgery to patients in Southampton, Winchester and across Hampshire. A consultation includes a detailed assessment, discussion of your symptoms and a clear explanation of your treatment options.

Laparoscopic umbilical hernia repair
Keyhole repair is often recommended for larger or recurrent umbilical hernias. It allows internal inspection of the abdominal wall and usually results in quicker recovery and minimal discomfort.

Open umbilical hernia repair
Smaller umbilical hernias can be repaired through a straightforward open approach. This technique provides a simple and effective solution with a short recovery period.

Recovery and aftercare
Most people return to normal activity within one to two weeks, depending on comfort and the size of the hernia. You will receive a personalised recovery plan, including guidance on lifting and exercise.

Patients from Southampton, Winchester and the wider Wessex region can expect expert care and clear treatment planning.
