Mr Nigel D'Souza provides expert, individualised care to diagnose and treat colorectal and general surgery conditions.
Nigel D'Souza graduated from Dartmouth College, USA with a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics. He read Medicine at University College London. He trained in general and colorectal surgery in London, Oxford, South Africa and Wessex. These included rotations in St George's Hospital, the John Radcliffe, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, and Southampton General Hospital. Alongside his surgical training, he completed a Master's in Surgical Eduation, and later a PhD in Surgery and Cancer from Imperial College London.
After acquiring his certificate of completion of training in 2021, Mr D'Souza spent two years on international fellowship in Sydney, Australia.
He first worked in Concord Repatriation Hospital, the first specialist colorectal unit in Sydney, and a high volume referral centre for advanced techniques in colorectal and general surgery.
He then worked for Professor Mike Solomon in complex cancer surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Australia's #1 hospital and the world's highest volume pelvic exenteration service.
Nigel D'Souza has been invited to centres of surgical excellence in the USA, Canada and Europe to observe best practice. He continues to visit UK and overseas units to stay up to date with surgical innovations, and received the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract travelling fellowship in 2025 to visit the University of Minnesota.
Mr D'Souza has performed clinical research for patient benefit throughout his career. His PhD was awarded by Imperial College for research in colorectal cancer at the Royal Marsden. His research on the faecal immunochemical test was awarded three prizes in general and colorectal surgery, and led to a change in UK national guidelines. He has been invited to present his research at conferences in the United States, Europe and Africa.
